Movie Saver allows you to download videos from websites. Video hosting sites are everywhere these days, but usually there is no easy way to download the videos you like. MovieSaver solves this problem, although on only a few selected sites. The supported video sites are the most well known: Youtube, Google Video, Sevenload, MyVideo, Clipfish (german site), Dailymotion, MySpace Videos,, metacafe, and Vimeo.

This is a very straightforward program: you see a video you like, copy its web address to MovieSaver, and press “Load link”. After you've gathered all the links you like, start downloading.

Although it looks simple and useful, this program faces serious competition from Firefox. If you use that browser you are better off trying out some extension to download the video. There are a few choices available and many have several advanced options, like converting the video to other formats instead of flash (used on most video sites) or obtaining the file from cache (i.e., copying the very file that is being used to show the video, instead of starting a new download). And you are also able to download videos from a much larger list of sites.

If you are not using Firefox, or if you prefer a separate program, MovieSaver is certainly an option. You have to ask for a license key, which will be sent to your email. Also, sometimes you will get ads in German for other programs from the same company that has brought you MovieSaver.
